Creating a Daily Kick-A$$ List

Creating a Daily Kick-A$$ List

It is so easy to reflect on a day and cherry pick all the things that went wrong because our brain is trained to match experiences to our subconscious beliefs. Most people don’t realize what their subconscious programming is and that it may be hijacking your daily thoughts. Because of this we often overlook the small victories and moments of joy that pepper throughout our days.

But what if I told you that by taking just a few moments each day to acknowledge these micro-moments, you could transform your perspective? Enter what I called the Kick-Ass List—a simple yet profoundly impactful practice that I do every night.

What is a Kick-A$$ List?

The Kick-Ass List is a compilation of the positive micro-moments, actions, and experiences that happened throughout your day. It's about acknowledging the small moments that you tend to overlook like finally finishing that book you’ve been reading, or finally starting a book that you've been putting off, not snoozing your alarm clock, allowing yourself to have 10 mins of alone time, all the way through to nailing a presentation. These are the moments that remind you of your strength, value, creativity, and ability to find joy in everyday life.

Why Focus on the Kick-A$$ Moments?

When we intentionally seek out and celebrate the small victories in our day-to-day lives, we shift our mindset from one of scarcity and limitation to one of abundance and possibility. By acknowledging our wins—no matter how seemingly insignificant—we affirm our ability to overcome obstacles, reprogram our brain, adapt to change, and create moments of joy amidst life's chaos. By cultivating a daily practice of gratitude and celebration, we rewire our brains to focus on the positive aspects of our lives, rather than dwelling on the negative.

How to Create Your Kick-A$$ List

Crafting your Kick-Ass List is simple.

I like to do this by creating a Note in the Notes app on my phone called Kick-Ass List. Get into a comfortable state with no distractions when you can really look in, feel the feelings, and tie the emotions to each moment on the list. Start by reflecting on your day and identifying moments that brought you a sense of satisfaction, joy, or accomplishment. Did you finally tackle that daunting project? Did you share a meaningful conversation with a loved one? Did you take a moment to appreciate the beauty of nature?

Once you've identified your kick-ass moments, write them down—no matter how big or small. Do this everyday, it can be written in a journal or on your phone/computer where you can record these moments each day. The key is to feel the feelings of how kick ass it really was, don't just make a list to make a list. In order to reprogram we need to tie emotions to it.

Integrating Your Kick-Ass Moments into Your Life

Creating a Kick-Ass List isn't just about celebrating the moments after they happen—it's about actively seeking out opportunities to cultivate joy and satisfaction in your daily life. Use your list as a guide for incorporating more of these moments into your routine. Schedule time for activities that bring you joy, connect with people who lift you up, and embrace opportunities for growth and exploration.

Remember, your Kick-Ass List is a reflection of your unique values, passions, and desires. It's a reminder that joy is not a luxury reserved for special occasions—it's a fundamental aspect of a fulfilling and meaningful life.

Conclusion

In a world that often emphasizes productivity over presence and achievement over appreciation, the Kick-Ass List serves as a powerful antidote—a daily reminder to slow down, savor the moment, and celebrate the victories, both big and small. By embracing this practice, you'll not only reprogram your brain to see all the beauty in every moment but will allow you to create a life that you desire.
